Brass and metal desk lamp from the 40’s with a frozen glass base.
Adjustable brass and walnut wood hanging lamp with Rotoflex shade, designed by Yasha Heifetz (USA) and probably manufactured by Light House Lamp and Shade Company of Los Angeles in the fifties. In 1950, Yasha Heifetz co-sponsored a national contest with the MOMA to change Marcel Breuer opinion’s about lighting which he thought to be unnecessary in his Moma exhibition since modern lamps were not well-designed. Ten wining designs were subsequently manufacturered by Heifetz company and earning fame for its company and changing Breuer’s mind about modern lighting.

This lamp base designed by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg is decorated in vertical bands of black interspersed by areas of horizontal stripes in yellow and white.
The base is fully marked. Circa 1965.

This lamp is the first model (23430) with the switch in the base, made in the early 1970s. This Panthella design lamp from Denmark is in a beautiful vintage condition. No damage on the shade. Minimal superficial scratches on the base, only visible if you look up close. Minimal discolouration in the bottom part!
